Summary of the project

FUTURUM, host organization, received following beneficiaries for a practical training in Wroc³aw (Poland) in the framework of the European Leonardo da Vinci – Lifelong Learning Programme::

Beneficiaries arrived in the morning on 8
th March 2009 with bus organized by Futurum together with their accompanying person - Julia Danzinger. Afterwards they checked in at their apartments.

On Monday, 9
th March, they were introduced by the companies where they started their placements afterwards. They were placed in the companies as follows:

On Friday, 13
th March, the students started a three week language course, organized by Futurum in cooperation with language school El Universo.

Austrian trainees at their appartment in WroclawOn first weekend beneficiaries attended a two day trip to Warsaw. They visited the modern centre as well as the old town. They got to know the history of the city and the most popular places there. They gained information about the whole country, its customs and tradition. It gave them the overview of Polish culture and believes.

During the weekdays the beneficiaries continued working in their companies. They went to work every day for maximum of eight hours. They were conducting tasks given to them by their tutors.

Simon and Christian, who were placed in Wojtera, performed following taskes and duties:

Radomir and Michele during their training at R2 were involved in following activities:

  • redrawing freehand detailed design drafts (Autocad 2006 environment)
  • using commands: line, offset, trim, rotate, mirror and copy
  • applying functions: ORTHO, OSNAP and SNAP
  • dimensioning

Sabine in UPM Raflatac was responsible for:

  • working in the warehouse
  • performing measurements of bearings (machine parts)
  • working in maintenance

Johanna and Julia were assigned to following tasks in Manet:

  • preparing professional packaging of the CDs
  • check the size of the covers
  • preparing printing layout
  • setting up printers

Ruth was trained in Quality Department of Volov Polska Sp. z o.o.. Among her tasks were:

  • ABC analyses of warrenty claims
  • 5S
  • faults and feedback from warranty system
  • VDA system

Wromet Tools assigned following duties to their trainees, Jakob and Roland :

  • bending and processing copper parts
  • checking the mass, length and width
  • forming of the parts
  • participation in products introduction and testing by one of the customers – company Alstom
  • milling, drilling

Within the training programme, beneficiaries acquired good working skills, such as team working and ability to adapt to another country’s customs. They were able to work and live independently. After having passed their training programme they are well qualified and prepared for developing work relations in their home country. Their English is fluent, so they could work abroad and profit from the new international possibilities created by the EU.

On Saturday, 28th June the students left their apartment and were driven to the airport. They travelled back to Austria.
